"...Both my sons not only grew up at Children's Workshop–they flourished there."

Our center directors are selected for their educational background, experience in early childhood education, and dedication to providing a high quality early childhood program. We are fortunate to have directors who have worked with our organization for many years and who have chosen to place their own children in our centers. Although all of our centers have specific guidelines by which the centers must operate, we welcome the unique features that each director brings to her center. Each center reflects the director's individuality.

Welcome to The Children's Workshop at Silverplume Drive. I would like to take a minute to introduce myself; my name is Laurie Alexander. I was born in Southeastern Colorado and moved to Fort Collins in 2010. I then pursued my education at Colorado State University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies. While completing my degree, I worked in various early childhood programs with infants through children up to 18 years old. I then joined The Children’s Workshop in 2013 as the Toddler Two Teacher, and, in 2014, I was promoted to the Assistant Director. From the time I was promoted, I worked on getting my Directors Certificate through the State of Colorado. In April of 2018, I was excited to accept the position of Director here at our Silverplume location.

At Silverplume, we encourage children to learn through hands-on experiences to explore their environment. We use redirection and positive guidance strategies to encourage independence and independent decision making skills. We focus on each child’s individual strengths to help foster them in a loving, nurturing environment. This affords our children the opportunities to explore, create, and develop self-confidence to learn about their world. We use a few resources available as guidelines to create the highest quality care for our children. They include the Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines, Core Knowledge Curriculum, and Colorado Shines standards. These provide our teachers with the tools to create meaningful and appropriate lesson plans to foster the most efficient growth of each child

As you well know, young children require a consistent and loving environment from caregivers who will guide them socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. Above all, we believe that a child's most important teacher is their parents. Thus, our staff strives to create meaningful and significant relationship with each and every parent. Together, we hope we can help each child bloom to their fullest potential.

If you are considering entrusting your child to our care, I would like to meet with you and show you our facility. Please feel free to call or email me to schedule a time to tour our program.
